Friday Fragments are bits and pieces of your week that are usually brief; too short for a stand-alone post, but too good to discard. Collect humorous observations, "Heard" items, and other small gems and put them together in a Friday Fragments post. Here we go....
- I've been wicked busy around here running M to various mouth doctors since the first week of August. In the past 6 weeks, we've seen the dentist (2x), the orthodontist (2x), the endodontist (1x), and the oral surgeon (3x). We'll be seeing the orthodontist 3 more times in the next 3 weeks. I'm so sick of that dental office smell I think I'm good for the next 3 years.
- I spent last weekend with my best friend from school. We hadn't seen each other since 1997! It was like we'd never been apart. We had a great time and my only regret is that we didn't have longer to spend catching up.
- K's birthday is this month, 11 days from now to be exact. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of letting her know this. If I have to hear "how much longer until my birthday?" one more time I may have one less child. No really. I get asked this question more than 10 times a day. EVERY. DAY. The only good thing that comes out of it is that I don't lose track of what the date is.
- As some of you may remember from this post and this one, I've been hunting every store in town trying to find Lay's Kettle Cooked Sea Salt and Cracked Pepper chips. For almost 2 months I looked for those chips, searching in vain no less. I finally found them last month at the Andrews AFB Commissary! (Of course it couldn't be at a store anywhere close to my house.) It's a good thing M's dance studio is located right outside the Andrews gate, now isn't it. At least I can get them anytime I want now. ;)
- I haven't shared this here on the blog as of yet, but I figure it's a done deal that I may as well. D, my eldest son, has decided to join the Marines. As of today he's official. Yesterday he took his ASVAB test and he's getting his physical as you're reading this (assuming you're reading this after 8AM). He'll be leaving for boot camp right after graduation in May. We're an Air Force family, and he was set to follow those footsteps until he met with a Marine recruiter in July. I guess the lure of being cannon fodder was just too much for him and he changed his mind. I'm cool with it though. I love the Marines dress uniform. :)
- If you're interested in getting a great deal, Restaurant.com is offering their certificates for 90% off! You can get a $25 certificate for only $1 now through September 12th. Enter the code NINETY at checkout to apply the discount. This is a really great deal and totally worth taking advantage of today! (Restrictions and conditions may apply. Please read all the fine print)
- This song has been stuck in my head for the past few weeks. Love it!
- In homage to the last Friday Fragments post I did, the big snails are all dead and the baby snail count is over 30 at this point. Anybody want some?
- Last but certainly not least, I want to give a huge thank you to all those who put themselves on the line every day for our country. I know where I was and what I was doing 8 years ago today. I know how I sat in awe of all the brave men and women who dove head first into doing all they could to help when we needed it most. Y'all are the best and please know that I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I'm sure there's more, but I can't remember anything else right now. Y'all have a great weekend!

I also love that song. I get it stuck in my head a lot too.
Happy FF!

Popped over from Mrs.4444s and wanted to let you know I enjoyed my read. Sounds like someone has been down in the mouth (LOL) as we say here on the farm. Have a very blessed weekend!!!

Congrats to your son!! He must be mighty excited about his decision. Hope the mouth problems get resolved quickly. Too much time with dentists is bad for your soul - or something like that.

That song is great, so much better than he was in Bush.
I've been doing the ortho and dentist thing a lot lately too! They start them younger these days, can't believe as my boy just turned 9 but his teeth need major work. I SO get the office smell!
You must be so proud of your boy... what an accomplishment!
Happy weekend!

Can't see the vid!!
Great FF post...tell your son congrats and thanks. What he is setting off to do is amazing.
And dog breath? Don't even get me started. Chauncey's breath is horrendous...even when he hasn't rolled in stink!!

I feel you on the doctor's appts. Feels like we are always going to one.
Give you son a big huge hug and tell him THANK YOU for me. Anyone who joins the military is a hero to me. :-)
Congrats on finding those chips. What a search!

I'll take Gavin Rossdale alone or in Bush. I've loved him since I first heard Everything Zen all those years ago.
I'm glad you found your chips finally!
I hear ya on the dentist office smell and it's always frigid in there too.

Nope, that's not quite as exciting as I pictured. I follow enough blogs, I'd just like ONE of them to be written by Jack Bauer's secretary, at least.
That's awesome about your son. I have no idea what you say...Congrats? Thanks? Whatever I'm supposed to say, that's what I want to say (and mean)!

How wonderful that you saw your friend after so long. It's funny how we can step right in to a friendship after so long. I hope you get to see each other again real soon.
Thank you to your son :) and your family.

I love that song you posted. I had to buy it on itunes because I didn't hear it enough on the radio...until after I bought it.
I can relate to the potato chip search. Do you know how hard it is to find Ketchup Chips (don't laugh, they are delicious!)?! It's next to impossible to find them and Lay's charges an ARM AND A LEG to ship them.

Some friends are just like that. You can not talk for ever and then... bam... it's like you were never apart.
Nice

What is it about that dentist office smell? It's just horrid.

Wow...that's huge for your son. Scary for mom, but huge for him! I appreciate him even considering it!
