Last week we said goodbye to Contemporary Jazz dancer Karla & Contemporary dancer Vitolio.
Tyce Diorio choreographed last week's group number to Brand New Day from The Wiz.
On with tonight's show! Tyce Diorio is this week's guest judge. Each pair of dancers will be dancing twice. Woot!
DANCE #1
Couple #1: Melissa (Classical Ballet dancer) & Ade (Contemporary dancer)-Dancing a Disco routine, choreographed by Doriana Sanchez, to Move On Up by Destination-- Nice lifts. Oops on the end bauble there. I absolutely hate Melissa's hair like that.
M: Fast, cool, & good.
Couple #2: Kayla ( Contemporary/Jazz dancer) & Kupono (Contemporary dancer)- Dancing a Contemporary routine, choreographed by Mia Michaels, to Gravity by Sara Barellis-- That was incredible! Mia is so good at story telling, and this was no exception. I totes got that Kayla was addicted to him.
M: Kayla has so much power!
Couple #3: Caitlin (Contemporary ballet dancer) & Jason (Contemporary dancer)- Dancing a Foxtrot routine, choreographed by Tony Meredith & Melanie LaPatin, to Minnie the Moocher by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy-- I was bored. So bored in fact, that I can't even remember the dance. Sorry.
M: It was good. Caitlin's kicks are really high.
Couple #4: Jeanine (Contemporary dancer) & Phillip (Hip Hop dancer)- Dancing a Russian Folk Dance routine, choreographed by Youri Nelzene & some lady whose name I didn't get, to Kalinka by Barynya-- Nice! I happen to be a big fan of Fiddler on the Roof, so I knew what to expect. I think they did it well! Phillip totes pulled off the footwork.
M: Really fast & good.
Couple #5: Randi (Jazz/Contemporary dancer) & Evan (Broadway dancer)- Dancing a Hip Hop routine, choreographed by Tabitha and Napoleon D'Umo, to Halo by Beyonce-- They did well. It wasn't a hard hitting hip hop like I like, but it worked for them.
M: My boy is doing hip hop! WOOT!!!! (Yup, she loves Evan)
Couple #6: Janette (Salsa dancer) & Brandon (Contemporary dancer)- Dancing a Argentine Tango, choreographed by Miriam LaRici & Leonardo Barrionuevo, to Libertango from the Forever Tango Soundtrack-- Nice lifts. I didn't think it was all that and a bag of chips as the judges did, but it was nice.
M: She didn't see it due to brushing her teeth. :)
DANCE #2
Couple #1: Melissa (Classical Ballet dancer) & Ade (Contemporary dancer)-Dancing a Waltz routine, choreographed by Ron Montez, to (You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman by Mary J. Blige-- Nice lifts. It wasn't a boring waltz like we're so used to seeing.
M: Very pretty & graceful. I like how Melissa moved.
Couple #2: Kayla ( Contemporary/Jazz dancer) & Kupono (Contemporary dancer)- Dancing a Broadway routine, choreographed by Joey Dowling, to The Dance at the Gym from West Side Story-- Yet another of my favorite musicals. This was cute! I thought they danced it better than Nigel thought they did.
M: It was a powerfully danced Broadway number. :)
Couple #3: Caitlin (Contemporary ballet dancer) & Jason (Contemporary dancer)- Dancing a Lyrical Jazz routine, choreographed by Mandy Moore, to Show Me Heaven by Maria McKee-- What a beautiful dance. Caitlin's lines are so perfect. It was nice to see both of them dancing in their element.
M: Really cool dance.
Couple #4: Jeanine (Contemporary dancer) & Phillip (Hip Hop dancer)- Dancing a Jive routine, choreographed by Tony Meredith & Melanie LaPatin, to Stuff Like that There by Bette Midler-- Cute! They looked like they had fun doing this dance. Phillip did a good job tonight.
M: Lots of energy! They were good.
Couple #5: Randi (Jazz/Contemporary dancer) & Evan (Broadway dancer)- Dancing a Samba routine, choreographed by Season 3 contestants Pasha Kovalev (OMG he's still hot!) & Anya Garnis, to Ritmo de Bom Bom by Jubaba-- Interesting costume! :) It totes lacked energy from Evan. I agree that Randi carried the whole dance.
M: Sexy & sharp
Couple #6: Janette (Salsa dancer) & Brandon (Contemporary dancer)- Dancing a Pop Jazz routine, choreographed by Wade Robson (WOOT!), to Ruby Blue by Roisin Murphy-- That was really good! I so love me a Wade routine. He's just the bomb in so many ways. :)
M: Sharp! It was pretty good.
If you'd like to see the videos of the dances, you can find them here.
I failed on picking the bottom 3 last week, sans one couple. Of course the one couple who I picked that were in the bottom 3 were the ones sent home. I may have to stop doing this if I can't get better at it. :)
My faves of the night are: Kayla & Kupono, Jeanine & Phillip, and Janette & Brandon
My pick for the bottom 3 pairs are: Melissa & Ade, Caitlin & Jason, and Randi & Evan

Until next week!
China Glaze L8R G8R...Green holo goodness. Love it!

M and I are on the same page about Evan!
My favorite was the addiction piece. Powerful...I cried. And beautifully done.
My guess at B3: Melissa/Ade, Caitlin/Jason, and Phillip/Jeanine. Total stab in the dark, though, considering that all the dances were pretty good.
