Weekly Winners 5/24/09

I told you this girl could fall asleep anywhere.  Here she is sleeping against Mr. Frog during B's choral concert.



We bought some caterpillars for M to study their life cycle in Science.  Through the week, they changed into chrysalids.  Now we're just waiting for the butterflies to emerge.  You can see the chrysalids hanging from the top of the butterfly enclosure.  Plus the one on the bottom who never attached.



This week we had dance pictures.  Here are the girls hamming it up before we left.



Saturday, M had another dance competition.  They only took one dance this time and won big!  I'll post more about that later in the week, but for now enjoy the pics!

Friday Fragments 5/22/09

Friday Fragments are bits and pieces of your week that are usually brief; too short for a stand-alone post, but too good to discard. Collect humorous observations, "Heard" items, and other small gems and put them together in a Friday Fragments post.  Here we go....

• I haven't been posting much lately because I've been so gosh darn busy!  Between being a taxi, schooling M, and everything else, I'm a mess!  I'm hoping life will settle down in the next 2 weeks.  We'll see.

• Last weekend, M had dance competition.  In their division, her group received 4th place for their Tap routine, 5th place for their Hip Hop routine and 6th place for their Jazz routine.  They were thrilled!  This video is of their Tap routine.  It was taken at an outdoor performance the weekend before competition.  M is the little brunette on the left at the beginning.  She ends up in the middle at the end.

• The end of May is so wicked crazy.  In the next two weeks we've got a birthday party to attend, another dance competition, recital rehearsals, recital, D coming home, a school picnic, and the end of the school year trip to Hershey Park for B.  ACK!!!!  Calgon take me away!

• Although I was initially rooting for Adam, I was happy Kris won American Idol.  I think it was a win-win situation.  Adam isn't bound by the winning contract and Kris gets a boost for his career.  It'll totally work for them both.  And Adam singing with KISS and Queen on the finale show?  Priceless!

• My favorite Summer show, So You Think You Can Dance, started back up Thursday.  I am thrilled beyond belief!  M and I watch it together and gab every week.  If you're a fan, look for my opinions every week when they get down to the top 20. 

• Baby snail count: 5 confirmed.  Adult snail count: down from 4 to 1.  Evidently once snails run out of algae to eat, they die.  Go figure.  (Yes, that would be sarcasm.)

I'm sure there's more, but I can't remember anything else right now.  Y'all have a great weekend!

American Idol Final 2

Well, tonight the Idol wannabes each get to sing 3 songs.  They get to choose their fave from the season, Simon Fuller gets to choose a song, and then they get to sing the Idol winners first single (co-written by Kara).  Yee-freaking-haw. 

On with the show....

First up, the Idol wannabes favorite of the season....

• Adam Lambert-Mad World by Tears for Fears--Nice, the trench coat he's wearing makes it look like he's in a dress as he's coming down the stairs.  The guyliner & polish are both in place for the finale.  At least he didn't scream once during this song, but it is a song that it's hard to scream during so....

• Kris Allen-Ain't No Sunshine by Bill Withers--Perfect choice.  He did as good a job this time as he did the first time he sang it.

Simon says Kris did better this round.  I agree.

Next we have Simon Fuller's song choice....

• Adam Lambert-Change Is Gonna Come by Sam Cooke--I'm so not digging the suit.  Ya know, I'm over the screaming he does on almost every song.  It just doesn't fit this song and sounds wrong on so many levels.

• Kris Allen-What's Going On by Marvin Gaye--I liked it.  I think he did a really good job and sang it well.

Simon says this round when to Adam.  Not in my opinion.

For the final round we have a song co-written by Kara. 

• Adam Lambert-No Boundaries--OMG  The lyrics to this song are so freaking cheesy!  Break out the crackers b/c I'm wicked hungry now.  This song is so not Adam it's crazy.  Again, wrong on so many levels.

• Kris Allen-No Boundaries--I think he did a much better job with this cheese-fest lyric song than Adam did.  Even if it was a little to high for him, that can easily be changed.

I don't remember hearing who Simon thought did that one better, but I'm sure it was Adam.

Dare I say it?  I think Kris did a better job tonight than Adam did.  Oh yes I did.

Some points to ponder:

1. Paula seriously needs to lay off the spray tanner.  Seriously.
2. I'm sick of the face dropping in the crowd.  Like I really need to see Camryn Manheim and Anthony Hopkins at the Idol finale.  Does that make me want to see it more, NOPE!!!!
3. So You Think You Can Dance starts Thursday!!!!  Woot, can't wait!  If you're a fan too, come back over here after the top 20 are chosen and we'll dish just like BooMama does about Idol.  I'll have a Mr. Linky too!  I'll see you then!
