Last week we said goodbye to Salsa dancer Susie and her Contemporary partner Marquis. No big surprise there. It is odd that for the second week in a row, both people of the dance pair have been eliminated. I think they really need to eliminate 2 dancers from 2 different pairs to shake things up a bit.
Woot! Shane Sparks did the opening number for last weeks results show. That man does my kind of hip hop! He's the bomb! I'm sad he's not doing more on SYTYCD this season, but I still get to see him on Thursday nights. :)
Special guest reviewer M will not be with us this week. She opted to spend time at VBS enjoying water night, making crafts and learning about Jesus. She'll be back next week with her riveting commentary. :)
Anyway, on with today's show! Adam Shankman is the guest judge this week, so there's sure to be some interesting talk tonight.
Couple #1: Kherington (Contemporary dancer) & Twitch (Hip Hop dancer)-Dancing a Hip Hop routine, choreographed by Napoleon & Tabitha D'Umo, to Don't Touch Me by Busta Rhymes--I was not impressed. I like my Hip Hop more hard hitting. This just wasn't my style, so I found it lacking.
School Rating: B
Couple #2: Courtney (Contemporary dancer) & Gev (B-Boy dancer)-Dancing a Rhumba routine, choreographed by Tony Meredith & Melanie La Patin, to Wishing On A Star by Rose Royce--Dude, how on earth is that dress staying up???? I loved the color of the fabric that was there for the dress. It looked good on her. I've seen hotter Rhumba's on DWTS, but I really liked the opening sequence. That was a nice slide down Gev's leg.
School Rating: A
Couple #3: Comfort (Hip Hop dancer) & Chris (Contemporary dancer)-Dancing a Jazz routine, choreographed by Tyce Diorio, to Beautiful People by Marilyn Manson--Tyce doing a Jazz dance! Woo! I had such high hopes. Plus, it was an African Jazz dance. Really high hopes. They were shattered. Marilyn Manson???? Dude, you choreographed an African Jazz dance to Marilyn Manson???? WTH were you thinking???? Crappy choice of music aside, they did the best they could. I liked the actual dance, and if the dance had been put to a better choice of song it would have worked beautifully. Watching the dance on mute made it better. If you're going to do a dance to a specific style of music, it really helps if the music matches the style. Just sayin'.
School Rating: A (mainly due to the mute button)
Couple #4: Jessica (Contemporary dancer) & Will (also a Contemporary dancer)-Dancing a Disco routine, choreographed by Doriana Sanchez, to Heaven Must Have Sent You by Bonnie Pointer--Angel wings on Will's jacket? Puh-lese! I wasn't digging it. It was slow and boring. They took too long getting into the lifts.
School Rating: B-
Couple #5: Kourtni (Contemporary dancer) & Matt (also a Contemporary dancer)-Dancing a Contemporary routine, choreographed by Sonya Tayeh (a newbie!), to Wrestlers by Hot Chip--I Liked it! It was different and fun to watch. This choreographer is pretty good! Now it wardrobe could have done something about Kourtni's outfit. Blech!
School Rating: A
Couple #6: Chelsea (Contemporary dancer) & Thayne (also a Contemporary dancer)-Dancing a Quickstep routine, choreographed by Heather Smith, to You Can't Hurry Love by Phil Collins--It wasn't too bad, but again I've seen better on DWTS. Quite forgettable.
School Rating: B
Couple #7: Chelsie (Ballroom dancer) & Mark (Contemporary dancer)-Dancing a Hip Hop routine, choreographed by Napoleon & Tabitha D'Umo, to Bleeding Love by Leonna Lewis--I didn't want to like this, but I did. She did better that he did. Good emotion from them both.
School Rating: A
Couple #8: Katee (Contemporary dancer) & Joshua (Hip Hop dancer)-Dancing a Samba routine, choreographed by Tony Meredith & Melanie La Patin, to Belia Belia by Angela Via--Nice footwork by Joshua, shoot by both of them! It was better than the Rhumba for sure! I thought it was the best of the night.
This just in: M has returned home from VBS and she caught the final dance! Here's M's critique: Too sexy! (Original isn't she?)
School Rating: A+

A couple of notes:
- Dominic from last season is in the house! Woot! Love me some Dominic!
- Joshua's dad was just too much! What a good sport.

My favorite of the night was Joshua & Katie.
M's favorite of the night was Joshua & Katie. (She made her choice after watching the 15 second recap of the dances at the end of the show.)
I think the worst of the night was probably Jessica & Will. I think they'll be in the bottom, probably joined by Thayne & Chelsea and Chris & Comfort.
